QUOTE(unni @ Aug 28 2005, 05:17 PM) As far as I know, this track was not issued in the audio-release of the movie "ZINDAGI", and can only be heard in the movie. In the first part, Manna Dey sings without any musical accompaniment, and in the second part Mohd. Rafi and Asha Bhosle sing a prayer in unison: CORRECTION: Music by SHANKAR-JAIKISHEN (not Ravi) If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Thank you, Unniji, for this wonderful upload. I have been looking for these songs for a long long time.
I have also been looking for songs of another Chetan Anand movie : Anjali. Two songs that come to minn are : Deepak Se Deepak Jal Gaye, sung by Asha if I am not mistaken and Budhdham Sharanam Gachcchaami by Manna Dey. Do you have them ? Would appreciate it much if you could upload those ? Just a small correction in the above request of Mr. Prabhakar. "Budham Sharanam Gachhami" in Anjali is by Mohd. Rafi. The Manna Dey song is in 1960 movie Angulimal.

From "SCREEN" online:
RARE YET IMPRESSIVE COMBOS Music is a phenomenon that exists in each and every mind. It is a precious gift to mankind, colossal in nature and perennial in existence. Music is indeed a part and parcel of our lives. Do we not turn to music after the hectic activites of the day? Music acts like a spirit booster. Likewise, the Hindi Film industry to a large extent owes its popularity to music. Music has served as a vitalizer and has been instrumental in making a film a big success or hit as trade circles call it. In fact, many of our movies are remembered till date purely for their music. Our composers, lyricists and singers have given various kind of flavors to the film song, thus producing the kind of impact needed for different situations in films. In this article we talk about those songs that are rare in character in various ways. We generally identify or asssociate songs with particular composers, lyricists and singers or specific combinations of them. Here, we are going to speak about some some of the songs which have rare combinations. Like, to give one example, "Raahi tu mat ruk jaana, toofan se mat ghabraana, kabhi to milegi teri manzil, kahin door gagan ki chhaon mein...". So what is rare? It is the fact that this song by Hemant Kumar was composed by Kishore Kumar for his own film Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein. This must have been a big honour for Kishore Kumar, as Hemant Kumar was himself a full-fledged music director. Yet another song under this genre is "Raina soyi soyi naina jaage jaage..." sung by Lata Mangeshkar and S.D.Burman along with R.D.Burman under Dada Burman's baton in Yeh Gulistan Hamara. Another song of a slightly different genere is the one from Anandmath, wherein we had the velvet-voiced Talat Mehmood singing under Hemant Kumar's music direction in a duet with Geeta Dutt - "Kaise rokenge aise toofan ko....". Yet another rare happening was the song from the film Didi by Mukesh and Sudha Malhotra, the latter also the composer of the film after N.Dutta fell ill and was unable to work on the score for the movie. Laxmikant -Pyarelal's ambition must have been fullfilled when they got Talat Mehmood to sing the melodious "Mohabbat ki kahaniyaan sunaane lagi hai jawaaniyaan..." with Lata Mangeshkar in Woh Din Yaad Karo. Here is another special one from the film Shararat - "Ajab hai dastaan teri....". Because this song has Mohammed Rafi singing playback for the hero of the film, none other than singing contemporary Kishore Kumar. Amusing, isn't it? Let us now look at some rare combinations of singers: "Manwa mein pyaar dole saara sansar dole.." by Mukesh and Zohrabai Ambalewali (Sartaaj), "Aansoo thi meri zindagi...." by Mohammed Rafi and Amirbai Karnataki (Bikhre Moti), "Aap ne chheen liya dil ko..." by Mohammed Rafi and Meena Kapoor (Farmaish), "Meri neendon mein tum mere khawabon mein tum..." by Kishore Kumar and Shamshad Begum (Naya Andaz), "De bhi chuke hum dil nazraana phir kya ..." by Kishore Kumar and Geeta Dutt (Jaal), " Dekho maane nahin roothi haseena..." by Asha Bhonsle and Jagmohan of the Sapan-Jagmohan duo (Taxi Driver), "O bedardi kyoon tadpaaye..." by Mahendra Kapoor and Geeta Dutt (Godaan), "Chanda sa hoga woh pyaara..." by P.B. Shrinivas and Lata Mangeshkar (Main Bhi Ladki Hoon), "Zindagi mein aap aaye..." by Mukesh and Vani Jairam (Chhalia/1973) and "Shyam rangeen hui hai tere aanchal ki tarah..." by Suresh Wadkar and Usha Mangeshkar(Kanoon Aur Mujrim). We know take you to a different avenue - the lyricist and music director combinations. Right from the time when the field of film music blossomed, teams have not only been predominant but also the creators of tunes that were often redeeming features of so many films. For example, Shakeel Badayuni's name was always associated with composer Naushad. The very mention of master composers Shankar - Jaikishan brings in the names of Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri . Other popular teams were S.H Bihari - O.P.Nayyar , Kaifi Azmi-Madan Mohan, Sahir Ludhianvi-Ravi, Indeewar - Kalyanji-Anandji and Anand Bakshi-Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri formed a good pair with both S.D.Burman and R.D. Burman. Let us now slightly deviate from such regular chemistry and look at some rare pairings of lyricists and composers. Here are some of the impressive results like Kaifi Azmi and S.D. Burman's Geeta Dutt ace in Kagaz Ke Phool, "Waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam ..." or Shakeel Badayuni with the maestro in Kaise Kahoon as exemplified by Rafi's "˜Zindagi tu jhoom le zaara...". Pradeep and O.P. Nayyar created gems in Sambandh like "Chal akela chal akela..." by Mukesh and "Andhere mein jo baithe hain...". Rajendra Krishen and Shankar Jaikishen came together in College Girl at a time when SJ never worked without Hasrat-Shailendra, giving the Rafi-Lata hit "Hum aur tum aur yeh samaa lovely lovely lovely....". After Shailendra's death, however, S-J worked with this writer in at least a dozen films. But Anand Bakshi and Shankar-Jaikishen worked only in Main Sundar Hoon, giving hits like "Mujhko thand lag rahi hai mujhse door tu na jaa..." and "Do dewaane do mastane ek mein aur ek tu..."both by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle. S.H. Bihari joined hands with Shankar Jaikishen for the Manna Dey classic from Jaane Anjaane, "Chham chham baaje re payaliya...". Shailendra wrote for the debut films of Sapan- Jagmohan (Begaana's haunting "Phir woh bhooli si yaad aayi hai..." by Mohd. Rafi) and R.D.Burman (Chhote Nawab's "Ghar aaja ghir aaye badraa sanwariyaa..." by Lata Mangeshkar). Anjaan, before forming hit teams with Kalyanji-Anandji and Bappi Lahiri worked with Pt. Ravi Shankar in Godaan, gifting us with rare gems like "Hiya jarat rahat din rain..."(Mukesh), "Pipra ke patwa sarikhe dole manwa..."(Mohd. Rafi) and "Janam liyo lalna..." by Asha Bhonsle. Bharat Vyas worked with Laxmikant Pyarelal in Sati Savitri to yield beautiful melodies like "Tum gagan ke chandramaa ho..." by Manna Dey and Lata Mangeshkar and "Jeevan dor tumhi sang baandhi..." by Lata Mangeshkar. Finally, here are some rare mega-combinations of four singers, as in the song from Madan Mohan's HAQEEQAT's "Hoke majboor mujhe usne bulaaya hoga..."by Mohd. Rafi, Talat Mehmood, Manna Dey and Bhupinder, or Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh and Kishore Kumar together in Laxmikant-Pyarelal's "Humko tumse ho gaya ..." from Amar AkbarAnthony. R.D.Burman also used Asha Bhosle, Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Usha Mangeshkar twice, in "Jaanu meri jaan..."(Shaan) and "Pyar hamein iss mod pe hai laaya..." (The Burning Train). If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.
