To start with, this cute Lata-Chitalkar duet from 'Nadiya Ke Paar' (1948):

And now on to 3 of C Ramchandra's best numbers for Lata, from Patanga (1949), filmed on Nigar Sultana:

And has Lata ever sounded more plaintive than she does in "Aaram ke the saathi kya kya", which is just one of several song equals in 'Sipahiya' (1949)? Here are the evergreens from that film, which includes two evergreen duets with C.Ramchandra himself (as Chitalkar):

Harishankar ji, your thread and the songs you are uploading reminded me of some melodious memory. I had a cassette of this duo ( C Ramchandra ji - Lata ji) and it included all rarest of the rare melodies only. (IMHO, very rarely HMV comes up with a compilation of such rare gems !)

I (and my wife, whose name happens to be "Lata") used to hear this cassette so many times over and over. Till date the joy of listening to that cassette is fresh in my memory !

Thanks so much for your appreciation of this melodious duo !

Cheers
Parag

Thanks for your appreciation ...

To move on to Samadhi (1950), in which, too, it is difficult to choose between the two Lata solos "Abhi shaam aayengi niklenge taare" and "Woh paas aa rahe hain hum door ja rahe hain"... "Gore gore O baanke chhore", I understand, was a clever lift of a foreign number "Chico Chico Puerto Rico" ... though I have never heard the latter. Anyway, "Gore gore O baanke chhore" has become too much a part of our psyche not to accord it its own place in our musical history.

Unfortunately, I am unable to trace, on my system, the 'Sangram' numbers of CR, of which "Dil diya hai aapne to meharbaani aapki" is an all-time personal favourite of mine... Anyway, for the nonce, here are the CR-Lata 'Sangeeta' numbers, of which "Jo mujhe bhulaake chale gaye" was a number very close to CR's own heart. Not that the other numbers are any less ...

And, to crown the 1950 archives, these delectables from 'Sargam', of which "Jab dil ko sataave gham" is farmaished even today:

I think that ends 1950.
